Hole No. 12
The Creek Club
Par 5 - 569 yards

One of the most talked-about holes at The Creek Club is dissected by a lazy tributary of [The Creek Club #12 - Reynolds Lake Oconee] Richland Creek as it transitions into a finger of Lake Oconee.  Two distinct fairways create strategic options that are influenced by the water, as well as a supporting cast of deep bunkers and rugged mounding, from tee to green.  There is no “right or wrong” way to play; just right and left.

The more demanding route over the creek to the right fairway can set up reaching the green in two, or a very short third shot into the green.  The lesser challenge to the left fairway presents an intimidating second shot over the lake.  The undulating green is buffered from the lake by a long, narrow bunker complex on the front left.  Two ridges create intriguing slopes that can be helpful, as well as perplexing.

Pro Perspective: “It is so inviting to play up the right side, but it’s a matter of how confident you are with your tee shot,” says Wesley J. Forester, head golf professional atThe Creek Club.  “If you get through 11 holes and your tee shot is not your favorite, then you tackle it from the left side.  This is a hole where some golfers try to take advantage of it and some just try to survive it.”
