This year’s much anticipated annual Drive, Chip and Putt Nationals will feature one of Reynolds Lake Oconee’s youngest Members, Georgia Bosart, 11.

The Drive, Chip and Putt Nationals will take place at the Augusta National Golf Club on Sunday, April 1 with 80 competitors, ages 7-15. The event began in 2013 as a joint initiative by The Masters Tournament, United States Golf Association, and The PGA of America to encourage the competitive spirit of young golfers across the county and has quickly become a special tradition on the eve of The Masters.

Bosart began as one of approximately 55,000 nationally to enter the local qualifying rounds, which she won in Lansing, Michigan last June. This advanced her to the sub-regional round for the state of Michigan, where she placed second.

Her win at the regional qualifying round in Dublin, Ohio secured her spot in the 10-11 age group at the Drive, Chip and Putt Nationals. The talented young golfer holed out nearly every chip in the competition.

“After chipping, I knew I had to get just one putt to win, but it was still a shock to actually be going to the Drive, Chip and Putt Nationals,” says Bosart. “I was very excited to win but I was already starting to get nervous about competing in Augusta.”

Bosart lives in Clarkston, Michigan with her parents, Rob and Laura, brother, Halsey, sister, Piper and their Australian Shepherd, Banff. The Bosarts have been Reynolds Members since 2010 and try to get down to the community three to four times a year to golf and spend time on the lake.

This time around, however, has been focused on preparing Bosart for Sunday’s event.

Bosart has taken advantage of the six championship courses at Reynolds, perfecting her game since her arrival last week. She even shot a 39 on the front nine of her favorite course, The Creek Club. She has also been working on her long drive game with Director and Instructor Nick Bradley at the Reynolds Kingdom of Golf presented by TaylorMade.

And as for what she’s most looking forward to at the Drive, Chip and Putt Nationals: “I am really excited about meeting all the professional golfers,” says Bosart. “We are going to watch their practice round on Monday and get some of their autographs.” In particular, she is excited to see her favorite professional golfer, Jordan Spieth.

Tune in at 8:00 am EST Sunday to the Golf Channel to watch Georgia and her peers compete.
